Terrain And Hazards
-
Elevation:
- Raster and contour service: USGS 3DEP Bare Earth DEM Dynamic Service.
- Elevation (Color) applies a Jacksonville-area color scale to the USGS bare-earth digital elevation model: below 0 feet, 0–5 feet, 5–10 feet, 10–20 feet, 20–30 feet, 30–50 feet, and above 50 feet. The colors are generated dynamically by the USGS image service.
- Elevation Contours uses 10-foot contours at overview zooms and switches to 5-foot contours at zoom level 13 for readable local detail. Both come from the service’s preset contour raster functions.
- Both elevation layers are clipped in the browser to the county boundaries covered by this map: Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam, and St. Johns counties in Florida, plus Camden and Charlton counties in Georgia.
- The Layers menu opacity slider controls both elevation layers as well as the boundary overlays.
- Tapping or clicking the map while either elevation layer is active queries the USGS Elevation Point Query Service and reports the interpolated ground elevation in feet.
- The 3DEP service uses the best available DEM resolution for a location, including 1-meter lidar-derived data where available. Point-query elevations are approximate, are not official surveyed measurements, and should not be used for engineering, property grading, flood depth, or flood-risk decisions.
- Program and accuracy context: USGS 3D Elevation Program and 3DEP point elevation accuracy.
-
Flood Zones:
- Geometry source: City of Jacksonville GIS Flood Zones January 2021, derived from FEMA Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map data.
- The local map copy groups adjacent polygons by FEMA flood-zone designation and subtype, then simplifies the geometry for browser performance. Use the official source or a current flood determination for property-level decisions.

Transportation
- Interstates:
- Geometry source: Florida Department of Transportation Transportation Data & Analytics Interstates, derived from the FDOT Roadway Characteristics Inventory and queried as GeoJSON.
- Duval Interstates are clipped to the Duval County boundary. NE FL Interstates are clipped to the seven Northeast Florida Regional Council counties: Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam, and St. Johns.
- I-4, I-10, I-75, I-95, I-110, I-175, I-195, I-275, I-295, I-375, I-395, and I-595
- Train Tracks:
- Geometry source: USDOT Bureau of Transportation Statistics / Federal Railroad Administration North American Rail Network Lines, queried as GeoJSON and filtered to Florida.
- Note: This layer shows active rail network records from NARN; abandoned and disused rail corridors are not included.

- Route counts shown in polygon cards are calculated from GTFS stop-to-route data, not from route line geometry. A route is counted for a polygon when at least one bus stop served by that route is inside the polygon or within 100 meters of the polygon boundary. Routes are deduplicated by GTFS
route_id, so multiple route shapes or trips for the same route count once.

Magnet Public includes only records coded as Magnet School, identifying dedicated magnet schools. Alternative Public includes FLDOE Alternative Education Center, DJJ School, and ESE Center records, including alternative charter schools. Charter Public excludes records shown under Alternative Public so schools are not duplicated between menu groups.

Health
- Duval County Property Lines:
- Live parcel-boundary map service: City of Jacksonville GIS Duval County Parcels.
- Property lines appear at zoom level 17 and closer, following the source service’s visibility range.
- Clicking a visible parcel queries its real-estate number from the City GIS service and links to the corresponding Duval County Property Appraiser property record.
- Parcel boundaries are provided for general reference and should not be treated as a survey or used to resolve a property-line dispute.
- Health Zones:
- There is no official map and no official ZIP-code list defining the Duval County Health Zones. Florida Department of Health in Duval County confirmed this directly in October 2026.
- The Health Zone map was developed in 2008. Based on the geographic boundaries, Florida Department of Health in Duval County said it would be reasonable to consider Duval County residents within ZIP codes 32259 and 32081 as part of Health Zone 3, but those areas may not have been represented within Duval County at that time and their inclusion cannot be definitively confirmed.
- Because there is no official definition and 32259 and 32081 cannot be confirmed, this map shows them in black as an excluded group rather than assigning them to Health Zone 3.
- Source framework: Florida Department of Health in Duval County health-zone framework; ZIP breakdown from Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida Housing HIA report citing DOH-Duval community health planning materials.
- The Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida Housing Health Impact Assessment lists six health-zone ZIP-code groupings and cites the Florida Department of Health in Duval County Community Health Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan as the source for the health-zone map.
- Health Zone 1 (Urban Core): 32202, 32204, 32206, 32208, 32209, 32254.
- Health Zone 2 (Arlington / Greater Urban): 32207, 32211, 32216, 32224, 32225, 32246, 32277.
- Health Zone 3 (Southside / Mandarin): 32217, 32223, 32256, 32257, 32258.
- Excluded / unconfirmed ZIPs shown in black: 32259, 32081.
- Health Zone 4 (Westside): 32205, 32210, 32212, 32214, 32215, 32221, 32222, 32244.
- Health Zone 5 (Northside / Outer Rim): 32218, 32219, 32220, 32226, 32234.
- Health Zone 6 (Beaches): 32227, 32228, 32233, 32250, 32266.
- Geometry is built from the map’s Census-based ZIP/ZCTA layer: U.S. Census Bureau TIGER/Line 2024 ZCTA520, clipped to the U.S. Census Bureau TIGER/Line 2024 Duval County boundary. 32215 is listed in the health-zone ZIP breakdown, but no polygon geometry is available in the Census-clipped ZIP/ZCTA layer.
- ZCTAs are Census statistical approximations of USPS ZIP Code service areas; USPS does not publish official ZIP Code polygon boundaries.
- Query-only alternate layer:
?layer=healthzones-byzipcodesuses the listed Health Zone ZIP-code groups and full Census ZCTA geometry, including the full 32234 ZCTA.
